One of the first things I did was find out who manufactures the solar panels. The companies were ET Solar and JA Solar. I've already mentioned which ET Solar panel was used. That was 2:1. I also checked JA Solar's website-they didn't make 5:1 panels, but they did make 2:1 panels The solar panels are made from square cells that are either 6 inches by 6 inches or square cells that are either 5 inches by 5 inches. The model JAM6 72/300-320 are 12 square cells long and 6 squares wide and so are 2:1 (where the individual cells are 6 inches by 6 inches. The 300-320 refers to electrical power output). The datasheet states the dimensions are: 1956mm long and 991mm wide. So the ratio of length to width is 1.97. The model JAM5 (R) 72/200-220 are 12 square cells long and 6 squares wide and so are 2:1 (where the individual cells are 5 inches by 5 inches. The 200-220 refers to electrical power output). The datasheet states the dimensions are: 1580mm long and 808mm wide. So the ratio of length to width is 1.955. The model JAM5 60/250-270 are 10 square cells long and 6 squares wide and so are 5:3 (where the individual cells are 6 inches by 6 inches. The 250-270 refers to electrical power output). The datasheet states the dimensions are: 1650mm long and 991mm wide. So the ratio of length to width is 1.66.
